Hello! My name is Sharan, and I’m from New Jersey.
I hold a B.Sc. in Microbiology with a minor in Statistics from The University of British Columbia, Okanagan. I just graduated in May 2024!
Currently, I live in Seattle, WA, working for a lab at Fred Hutch Cancer Center as a research technician. Previously, I volunteered with the Deyholos lab at UBCO as well as led my university’s iGEM dry lab operations.
I’m passionate about bioinformatics and computational biology and spend a considerable amount of time learning about new techniques that interest me. I’ve always loved teaching myself new things; that’s why I got into cooking, why I worked on iGEM, and why I want to go into research in general.
In my spare time, I tutor high school, AP, and university-level math and science (currently accepting new students!). I’m also working on an online statistics resource, inspired by what Paul’s Online Notes does for calculus students, hoping to cover everything you’d learn in the undergraduate-level (mathematical) statistics curriculum.
