This was a straightforward but jaw-dropping hike. This hike served as a reminder to me that Washington is literally heaven on Earth. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to and have the privilege of calling home, for now.
I did this hike with a bunch of coworkers from Fred Hutch! It was super easy and straightforward. The hike started out at this clearing for transmission lines with views of the Cascade Mountains in the background.
Then, it followed a gentle incline on this mountain along Wallace River, which was so pretty and calming at every corner.
It’s also divided into Lower, Middle, and Upper Falls, giving beginners a choice to turn around if the hike gets too strenuous. All of the stops were equally pretty :)
When you weren’t stopped by the falls, you were looking out to gorgeous views of Gold Bar and the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie Forest, with its gorgeous mountains painting the backdrop. It was crazy to think that this gorgeous hike is right next to a bustling suburban neighborhood. People there can just walk to this hike. Insane.
The final push to Upper Falls was slightly tiring but super rewarding. We even saw a rainbow. I mean, look at that. That could be a postcard. That could be an AI-generated image of paradise. But nah, it exists in real life… in WA.
We stopped here, had some of our hike snacks, made the descent down, and parted ways. A solid way to start your Saturday morning :)
